"Vesela Flamburari and the Goblin's treasure" - interview with Nia's publisher - Bulgarian illustration

Milena Radeva:

Talking to Vesela Flamburari is like starting to read a book of fairy tales, you start and you can't stop and at one point you realize that the day has flown by, and your soul has become so much happier, more beautiful and more charged with fluttering emotions, colorful stories and flying happiness. That is why we are so fortunate to publish the first book in the series "Tales from the Misty Island""Nia and the Goblin's Treasure". And here's what Vesi told us on a foggy day with a cup of warm tea...

What inspires you and what do you imagine while writing a book?
... When I write, I imagine how the Earth becomes the most beautiful place where a person can live, because while I write, I dream of changing the world of people! I want our world to become full of fun, intelligence, love and to be even a little sentimental. I dream it and describe it exactly like that. The characters I write about emerge from this dream of mine. My characters are not fictional, but completely real. They come to me as one goes to a doctor or a tailor, and they ask me to write their story. I listen to them carefully. I even write down exactly what they tell me. I have an incredible amount of notebooks, full of memos. Then I sit down, think and tell the story of this or that character. So far, all my characters have been quite happy with me, and that's wonderful.

My stories (even fairy tales) are for young and old people. I can't divide my writing by external criteria. At the moment of writing and editing, I only think about the story, but everything that I am and that I carry within me comes out in my books. There's no way I can write something that isn't within me. However, a person is a whole universe, right? Very often I myself am amazed at the crazy things that I have come up with.

The best thing is that I really love writing. And I take children's literature, and writing for children, very seriously. In this regard, I won't change. When I write, the book passes through my thoughts, through my feelings, and finally becomes a universe created by me. It is so exciting!
